Church life

AFC is a church for all ages. No matter how old or young you are, we welcome you! We understand that life is different for everyone but no matter what has happened, we believe that God is the answer. We are married, single, divorced, separated and everything in between….but we aim to support everyone on their journey towards a spirit-filled, full life in Jesus. Whether you are starting out with questions or have been a Christian for years, all are welcome here. Why not try one of our small groups, prayer groups or come along to one of our day events?

Monday Prayers

Monday Prayers is a weekly meeting, open to anyone who would like to join us, 7pm -8pm except for bank holidays, where we come with no agenda except that we are seeking the Lord for His heart and word for our church community. We worship, listen, feedback what we think He is saying that evening and pray through the issues. At the moment He has told us to pray prophetically so that is what we are trying to do. He never lets us down. At 7.50pm we pray for the leadership team.

Costa Prayers

coffee cupEach Friday lunchtime, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, a small group meets at Costa Coffee at the Virgin Active Health Club on Maylands Avenue. We are a presence on Maylands, showing our excitement in following Jesus as we worship God, and give thanks for His continuing guidance and provision for the MAX project. We pray for the MAX project as we look out on our new site. We pray for the local businesses and for the ongoing mission and outreach of AFC. We are well known to the staff at Costa, as we share with them, and ask them for any prayer requests. We leave a card from AFC greeting them as we leave. Anyone is welcome to come and pray with us.

Pastoral care

Pastoral care aims to provide help and support for people with personal needs and problems. The aim is to demonstrate the love of Jesus to people in our community, and our basis is prayer.   We aim to support people in a variety of ways. This can include practical support such as doing their shopping, taking them for a hospital appointment, arranging meals to be delivered for a short period and/or sorting out a specific problem such as a phone not working. Emotional support may include being with someone and giving them time. Prayer support is the basis of whatever help is provided.

Anyone can access pastoral support. Just contact us or call the Church Office and leave a message. The message can be brief and just ask for the pastoral care elder to contact you.
